Ismaël ITOUA is a legal consultant with over 10 years’ experience in mining law, business law and environmental law, specialising in local content. He has extensive experience in providing legal advice on project financing in the extractive sector (mining, oil and gas), in the energy sector in Senegal and the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) region, and in aviation project financing. He also conducts assessments of the positive and negative impacts of industrial activities on the rights of local communities and populations in the context of extractive projects in Senegal. Ismael ITOUA worked for nine years in a law firm and for three years at the Senegalese Ministry of Mines. He has been teaching at the Institut Supérieur du Droit de Dakar (ISDD) for three years and has published a book and articles on local content in the mining sector.
He also volunteers as a legal advisor to a public interest foundation for the protection of children’s rights in Senegal.
